PE vs PVC: Key Differences

Both PE (Polyethylene) and PVC (Polyvinyl Chloride) pipes are widely used in water supply systems. Here's how they compare:

Flexibility

PE pipes are flexible and available in coils, making them ideal for long runs and curved installations. PVC pipes are rigid and require fittings for direction changes.

Jointing

PE pipes are joined by fusion (butt or electrofusion) or mechanical compression fittings. PVC pipes use solvent cement or rubber ring joints.

Durability

Both materials offer excellent corrosion resistance and long service life (50+ years). PE is more resistant to impact and fatigue.
